Parabens are widely used as preservatives in personal care products, and their main task is to curb bacterial growth and extend the shelf life of those products. However, many scientific researches have determined that parabens are potential endocrine disruptors. Parabens specifically mimic the hormone estrogen and could thus interfere with the production of that hormone.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sulfates are effective cleansing agents that cause the foaming action commonly associated with soaps, but can also be found in toothpaste, shampoo, and body washes, among other products. Sulfates are a health concern because they have the ability to break down proteins, which can have a degenerative effect on the cell membranes. Sulfates are also linked to residue in the heart, lungs, and brain.<\/span>
