If you’ve ever wanted to know about the fragrance wardrobe of the most stylish people both on the ‘gram and in real life, you’re in luck. A few months ago, when we announced Scentbird’s partnership with SAKS, we started a campaign called Scents of Style, which uncovers the fragrance rituals and philosophy of our favorite trendsetters. Its aim is to show all the nuances of the connection between perfume and personal style as a way of communicating a vibe, the truest form of olfactive storytelling.
Today in the series, we’re spotlighting Genevive from @genevivelaurenn account, a Toronto-based fashion and lifestyle creator with a passion for the creator marketing industry. She loves creating content that showcases her everyday life, local spots, and everyday outfits, as well as mixing floral heavy scents with more traditionally masculine accords, depending on the season.
Without further ado, we present you Genevive.
SB: How do you perceive the connection between scents and style?
Genevive: Scent is one of my favorite final touches to any look! I love changing my fragrance depending on the time of year or event. For instance, in the winter, I love scents with hints of musk that are less sweet but in the summer I’m a huge fan of florals and beach scents. I think scent can also compliment looks based on the season from a winter coat look to something more beachy and summery.
SB: The iconic Goutal-Paris is one of your favorite luxe perfume houses. Would you say that this French olfactive embodiment of style communicates your personal style as well?
Genevive: I love Goutal’s range of scents and I think they all complement my style really well! Petite Cherie is a bit sweeter which I love for more romantic cozy settings versus Etoile D’une Nuit which has hints of musk that I think works perfectly for some of my evening girls night out looks.
SB: Do you have a personal favorite scent from the Goutal-Paris brand? And if you do, would you care to explain why you chose that one?
Genevive: I love Petite Cherie! This one is a bit sweeter and feminine which I think compliments my everyday style and personality super well!
