Palm Royale: 5 Things We Can’t Stop Obsessing Over

You can have it in writing: Palm Royale has us WEAK. This show is like a fabulous time machine that dropped us smack dab in the middle of 1969 Palm Beach, and let’s just say, we’re not sure we want to come back. (Except for maybe for the attempted murder, that can stay.) Here’s what’s got us hopelessly obsessed:

1. The Grasshopper Cocktail: Forget everything you thought you knew about nightcaps. Enter the Grasshopper, the vibrantly green, minty-fresh cocktail that stole the show in the opening scene of this Apple TV+’s hit series.  This decadent treat, more akin to a boozy milkshake than a traditional drink, isn’t just about the taste – it’s a symbol of the era and the show’s glamorous world.

Grasshopper is Maxine Dellacorte-Simmons’s (played by the incredible Kristen Wiig) signature drink in “Palm Royale.”  Coincidence? We think not. Here we have a strong, ambitious woman navigating the treacherous waters of Palm Beach high society and her weapon of choice? A sweet, minty green concoction. It’s a fascinating juxtaposition, hinting at Maxine’s playful side beneath that determined exterior.

2. Outfits That Would Make Elton John Jealous:  The fashion in Palm Royale? It’s like a museum exhibit dedicated to good taste, with a healthy dose of extra. We’re talking bold colors, head-turning patterns, and enough accessories to stock a small boutique. Basically, it’s a giant “what would happen if Barbie went to Palm Beach?” fever dream, and we’re here for it.

3. Girl Power:  The women of Palm Royale are NOT here to play nice. Maxine is basically a wrecking ball in a designer dress, and we love to see it! The show tackles the rise of feminism speckled with good humor, reminding us that the fight for equality was and still is far from glamorous. But hey, at least these ladies look good doing it.

4. Moon Landing Mania:  Remember that giant leap for mankind? Palm Royale throws it right in your face , in the best way possible. We’re talking space-age optimism, the thrill of the unknown, served on a platter with lots of amazement. It’s a good reminder that sometimes, even the most impossible dreams can come true.

5. Ricky Martin: Enough Said.  Okay, so maybe this one doesn’t need much explanation. The man is a walking, talking dose of sunshine, and his presence in the show is one of the best things in it. We won’t spoil anything for those who haven’t watched it yet, shame on you, but, if you want a sneak peak, just google: Palm Royale Ricky Martin. Make sure that the AC is on while you do it, because it will suddenly get much, much hotter where you are.
